  • Engl - Re-opening of the Farnese collection in 1 september 2009, Naples

The setting up of the statues from the Farnese collection and the re-opening of all the halls, after lenghty restoration and reorganisation works, represents an important moment in the history of the Archaeological Museum of Naples. This extraordinary collection of antiquity, started by Alessandro Farnese, later Pope Paul III (1543-1549), was created thnks to the acquisition of collections, confiscations, donations, the trade of antiques and many findings made during the excavations in Rome for town-planning adjustments.
